Francisco Tárrega – Adelita

A student of mine has recently been studying Adelita by Francisco Tárrega. I’ve recorded a video of this as a reference for them. Hopefully plenty of others will enjoy this too.

I’ve tried to keep the phrasing clear on this version. I also have tried not to use much rubato in the phrasing as this student will be working on it cleanly before trying out those kind of alterations. When I am playing this, as with many other guitarists, I pair it with Lágrima  also by Tárrega as well.

As I use a lot of rubato on Lágrima I would usually try to keep Adelita sounding more clean and straight. Too much rubato can sound a bit off-putting.

Let me know what you think of this. How do you like to play this piece?
